Did this a while back, decided to put it here. I am going through Book of Ajia and Lost Kingdoms and seeing a lot of minor characters that I have wanted to flesh out and give a history to.

One of them is Tulka, the true Healer. He was always different from the others, calm, collected, and graceful. Dont get me wrong, Shyl has his moments too, but Tulka was very.. angelic for lack of a better word. Feminine in his mannerisms but still a guy. None of this girly frilly crap for him..

I tried to decide on what kind of girl would be right for him. And well, I came up empty. So, I came to the conclusion that Tulka is, in fact, bisexual leaning towards men. A few people had absolute FITS about this when I made the decision. Whatever... Ive started with him among all the other minor characters.

Well, there is a tradition among Anchients where if one is wanting a relationship to come to the public eye, they bring a flower to that person, or wear it somewhere on their person. It stays there until the flower dies or the one they are wanting to be open with sees the flower and accepts it. Tulka's lover Gabreal was a general for his Kingdom, manly, and a widower with grown children so they had kept their love a secret. Gabreal told Tulka he would bring him a flower at their next meeting, but that next meeting happened to be the war council where they realised war was unavoidable. So, Tulka accepted the flower, but still no one knew because of the turmoil. It would remain unnoticed for centuries, even though Tulka never forgot Gabreal.

Gab DOES get to come back, but not in any time frame of the books being worked on. But that is an entirely another story there.
